Publisher Pricing and Marketplace Commission
How to set prices and how the marketplace commission applies.
Publishers set their own prices for publishing opportunities. The marketplace applies a commission on each completed placement. This guide covers how publisher pricing and commission work. See Publisher Operations in the Backlink Marketplace for the full guide.
Setting prices
Price according to the site's topical authority, audience, and editorial effort โ not according to a link metric. A placement on a topically relevant site with an engaged audience is more valuable than one on an unrelated high-traffic site. Consider the time required to review, edit, and publish the placement.
| Factor | How it affects price |
|---|---|
| Topical authority | Higher authority โ higher price |
| Audience engagement | Engaged audience โ higher price |
| Editorial effort | More review and editing โ higher price |
| Content length | Longer content โ higher price |
| Placement prominence | More prominent placement โ higher price |
Marketplace commission
The marketplace applies a commission on each completed placement. The commission is a percentage of the publisher's fee. Publishers receive the fee minus the commission. The commission rate varies by plan.
