Lead Forms for Local Sites: Conversion Best Practices
Form fields, placement, and trust signals for local lead capture.
A lead form is where a visitor becomes a lead. For local businesses, the form is often the primary conversion point. This guide covers form fields, placement, and trust signals for high-converting local lead capture. See Lead Routing SOP for what happens after submission.
Form fields
Minimize friction. Ask only for what you need to respond. Every additional field reduces conversion rate.
| Field | Required? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Yes | To address the lead personally |
| Phone or email | Yes | To contact the lead |
| Service needed | Yes | To route and prioritize the lead |
| Message | Optional | Context, but not required |
| Address | Only if location matters | For service-area businesses |
Placement
- Place a form or call action above the fold on service pages.
- Repeat the CTA at the end of the page.
- Make the CTA visible on mobile without scrolling.
- Use a sticky CTA on mobile if appropriate.
Trust signals
- Add a privacy policy link near the form.
- Show trust badges or certifications if genuine.
- State how quickly you will respond.
- Do not ask for sensitive information unnecessarily.
