Zero-Click Pages: Diagnosis and Fixes
Diagnose zero-click pages and improve titles, intent, and CTR.
Zero-click pages have impressions but no clicks โ they appear in search results but searchers do not click through. This is a missed opportunity. This guide covers how to diagnose and fix zero-click pages. See Reading Search Console Performance Reports for the data source.
Diagnosis
- Check the title tag โ is it compelling and accurate?
- Check the meta description โ does it match the search intent?
- Check the position โ if the page ranks below position 10, it may simply not be visible enough.
- Check the query intent โ does the page actually answer what the searcher is looking for?
- Check for cannibalization โ is another page competing for the same query?
Fixes
| Cause | Fix |
|---|---|
| Weak title tag | Rewrite to be specific, compelling, and intent-matching |
| Missing or weak meta description | Write a description that previews the content's value |
| Low position | Improve on-page SEO and internal links |
| Intent mismatch | Rewrite the page to match the query's intent |
| Cannibalization | Merge or differentiate competing pages |
