An SOP for syncing Search Console performance data into your reporting system.

This SOP covers how to synchronize Google Search Console data into your reporting system safely. It ensures data is captured consistently without overwriting or duplicating. See Google Search Console for Local SEO for the full reference.

Objective and scope

Capture Search Console performance data (impressions, clicks, CTR, position) for queries, pages, devices, and countries on a regular schedule. This SOP does not cover real-time data (Search Console data is delayed 2–3 days).

Procedure

  1. 1Authenticate

Use the Search Console API with an authorized service account or OAuth token. See Search Console Verification Checklist.

  2. 2Fetch performance data

Query the Search Analytics API for the date range, dimensions (query, page, device, country), and row limit (max 50,000 rows per request).

  3. 3Store with metadata

Store each row with the property, date, dimensions, and metrics. Use a unique key to prevent duplicates.

  4. 4Handle pagination

If the response is truncated, paginate by date range or dimension to capture all rows.

  5. 5Backfill recent days

Search Console data for the last 2–3 days may be incomplete. Re-fetch recent days on each sync to fill in delayed data.

  6. 6Log the sync

Record the sync time, property, row count, and any errors.

Schedule

Sync daily, fetching the last 7 days each time to backfill delayed data. This ensures recent data is complete without redundant full-history fetches.
