Page Speed and Core Web Vitals Checklist
LCP, INP, and CLS checks and fixes for local business pages.
Core Web Vitals are Google's field-data metrics for page experience: Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) for loading, Interaction to Next Paint (INP) for interactivity, and Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS) for visual stability. This checklist covers the checks and fixes for local sites. See Technical SEO Audit for the broader context.
Largest Contentful Paint (LCP)
- LCP element is identified (usually the hero image or headline)
- Hero image is optimized (compressed, correct format, lazy-loaded below fold)
- No render-blocking CSS or JS above the fold
- Server response time (TTFB) is under 600ms
- LCP is under 2.5 seconds on mobile
Interaction to Next Paint (INP)
- Third-party scripts are minimized or deferred
- JavaScript bundles are code-split
- Long tasks are broken up
- INP is under 200 milliseconds on mobile
Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS)
- Images and embeds have width and height attributes
- Fonts use font-display: swap or a fallback font with matching metrics
- No dynamically injected content above the fold
- CLS is under 0.1
